Belfast Rapid Transit: Double yellow line proposals for major West Belfast roads (Falls Rd)

10th May 2018

Double yellow lines look set to appear along major roads in West Belfast as part of plans to roll out a £90million rapid transit system.

The parking restrictions will be applied on parts of the Belfast Rapid Transit route including the Falls and Stewartstown Roads.

Letters outlining how the plans will unfold have been delivered by the Department for Infrastructure to residents who live or run a business along the front of the roads affected.

The letters tell residents that a number of measures are being considered and that it is “necessary to implement these changes in order to facilitate the operation of the new bus lanes”.

The measures include ‘no waiting (Monday to Saturday 7am - 7pm)’ which will be marked with a single yellow; ‘no waiting at any time (loading/unloading is permitted)’ with a double yellow or ‘no waiting at any time (loading/unloading is not permitted)’ marked with double yellow lines and yellow markings on the kerb.
