Busy first term in P1

23rd Oct 2019

Our P1 children have been developing their numeracy skills through our Maths Mastery programme. They have been learning about sets, sequencing and estimating as part of their numeracy learning. Please ensure you are supporting numeracy learning at home by playing card games and board games. Encourage your child to set the dinner table and help when you are grocery shopping e.g. Can you get me 6 apples, 8 oranges etc. Make sure you are also using mathematical language when speaking to your child e.g. heavy, light, heavier, lighter, more, less, in between etc.  Reading helps your child to develop numeracy skills too so why not pick books with a numerical theme such as The three little pigs, Seven little ducks etc.

We also had a visit from the doctors in the hospital who taught our children all about x-rays, their bones and their skeleton - all in time for Halloween!
