History walk 🚢

15th Sep 2023

πŸ‘£πŸ˜ŽYear Five out and about on a leisurely walk in the community exploring all the local landmarks. πŸ‘£πŸ˜Ž HISTORY ON OUR DOORSTEP

Local history helps children make sense of their immediate world. However, it is not just a case of bombarding them with local facts. Good local history involves enquiries that allow children to investigate drawing on their previous historical knowledge and understanding.

Teaching local history can help children develop a sense of identity and belonging, promote critical thinking and historical research skills, and be used to teach other subject areas such as geography, science, and art.
