Meeting the Lord Mayor 💫

15th Jan 2026
🚉 🚌 We were absolutely thrilled to attend Belfast Grand Central Station this morning to participate in the media campaign for the Translink sponsored When Walls Speak – Welcome Schools Street Art Programme. This exciting initiative has been running in school since we returned in January.

Our Year 6 children have been taking part in a series of art and poetry workshops and will also be going on a walking tour of Belfast City Centre, exploring murals that have been painted as part of a wider streetscaping project. The programme will culminate in our school having a brand-new mural painted. In addition, a mural will be created on the BT Exchange building at the front of Grand Central Station, reflecting the artwork and poetry produced during workshops in the partner schools.

Our children were delighted to take their coats off and proudly show their school jumpers as they were featured front and centre for the photographs with Belfast Lord Mayor. As a special thank-you for representing our school so beautifully, they were treated to a lovely hot chocolate afterwards. The children were fantastic ambassadors💪 confident, well-mannered, and full of pride in their school.

And a big thank you to the P6 team in school for so warmly embracing this programme and for working closely with the Translink team to help bring this exciting initiative to fruition.
