Outdoor learning in Year 2 🕸🌿🕷
🕸🕷Today Year 2 participated in a science experiment to see why spiders do not get stuck in their own webs. Our own predictions included:
- Spiders are too heavy
- They made the web
- Spiders are hairy
- Body parts aren't sticky
When we walked our fingers across the sticky tape, they stuck to the tape. But when we put some oil on our fingers, our fingers did not stick when we walked across the sticky tape again.
We learned that a spider has oil on its body, as well as special bristles which stop it sticking to things.
We followed this up with a litter pick around our grounds 🗑 We weeded, picked up litter and found an amazing amount and variety of mini beasts. Our min beast hotels are almost full. Planting of vegetables to follow🌿
