Pencil grip in Year 1 ✍️

15th Sep 2025
✍️ Working on our pencil grip and pencil control by drawing representational pictures in primary 1 💕 artists of the future ✍️

Pencil grip and pencil control are essential foundation skills for writing. Teaching them early helps children:

Develop fine motor skills – strengthening the small muscles in the hands and fingers needed for writing, cutting, and other daily tasks.

Improve handwriting – correct grip makes writing neater, more legible, and less tiring.

Build confidence – children who can control a pencil well feel more successful and independent in their work.

Prevent bad habits – teaching a good grip early helps avoid awkward grips that can be difficult to change later.
