Stunning images show Belfast a world apart in 1955

20th Oct 2017

Stunning images taken in Belfast in the summer of 1955 show a city a world apart from the one we know today.

Many won't recognise the scenes the photos depict, and they capture a moment in time.

The photos were taken by documentary and Press photographer, Bert Hardy, who's best-known for his work in the Picture Post magazine.

In the collection of images archived by Getty, the shipyards, stunning streetscapes and the people of the city are captured in terrific fashion.

Highlights include a snap of the Alhambra Theatre in Lower North Street and unnamed streets emerging from the shadows.

Why not share these photos with the older generation and take a trip down memory lane.
