Unveilling of the new Reflections Sculpture πŸ“·

30th Apr 2026

🎨✨ What a proud day for our school! ✨🎨We were absolutely delighted to be invited to the unveiling of the new Reflection sculpture at Belfast Grand Central Station πŸš‰πŸ’«

It was also the official launch of the When Walls Speak murals project, showcasing a stunning collection of artwork created by talented artists and inspired by the narratives collected in schools across the cityπŸŒˆπŸ–ŒοΈ

These vibrant murals truly brighten the entrance to the station and create such a warm welcome for everyone arriving into Belfast πŸ’›

The phrase “So glad you’re here” featured in the project, was inspired by workshop discussions our pupils took part in, alongside children from six other schools. They explored how best to welcome visitors to our city, and this message really captured their spirit 🀝

Throughout this project our children learned how street murals have long been an essential part of Belfast’s visual and cultural landscape, acting as powerful expressions of identity, memory, and community. Across the city, our walls have become canvases that document key moments in history. These artworks are not static; they continue to evolve alongside the communities that create them, reflecting changing attitudes and new generations of voices πŸ”ˆ

✨ Our children also had the fantastic opportunity to meet the Minister for Infrastructure and the Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast πŸ›οΈπŸ‘

As always, they represented our school beautifully 🌞 we couldn’t be prouder! 🌟   We were especially delighted that all of our Year 7 pupils, along with our P6s, were involved in a series of creative workshops as part of this project 🎨   🍎 A lovely little detail… one of the murals features an apple, inspired by our pupils sharing memories of our school apple tree and making apple crumble and apple cakes back in Year 2. How special to see these memories brought to life in such a meaningful way! πŸ₯§β€οΈ

It’s truly wonderful to see our children’s voices, ideas, and memories reflected in artwork that will be seen and enjoyed by so many across our city πŸŒ†πŸ’– Translink
