Using money in the real world 💰 🪙

26th Feb 2025

We play toy shop games using real objects and money, and also digitally to help reinforce key learning targets.

Playing toy shop is a fantastic way for children to develop essential money management skills in a fun and interactive way. Through role-play, they learn how to recognise coins and notes, count money, and give change, helping to build their numeracy skills. By setting prices and making purchases, children begin to understand the concept of budgeting, learning to make choices based on the money they have. This activity also encourages problem-solving, communication, and social skills, as they take turns being the shopkeeper and customer. Most importantly, it provides a hands-on learning experience that makes financial literacy engaging and memorable for young learners.
