Using scissors in Year 1 ✂️

24th Sep 2025
✂️ Learning how to use scissors is an important skill for our children in Year 1 because it develops their fine motor skills, hand strength, and hand-eye coordination, all of which are essential for writing and other everyday tasks.
✂️ Cutting along lines also helps children practise focus, control, and patience.
✂️ Parents can help at home by giving their child child-safe scissors and encouraging them to cut out simple shapes, pictures from magazines, or even help with craft activities.
